Syd Barrett's Darkest Song: Jugband Blues
Im creep Im weird Why am i here Shouldnt be here
I'm happy to say that ive enjoyed their whole discography. Their albums are not equally good, and i do favor their first few albums, but unlike most bands this has been an enjoyable journey from start to finish. None of their albums sound the same, but they all sound like QOTSA
lose the love of your life and maybe come back and make decisions
I also believe that some spirit or entity got him and troubled him spiritually besides the drugs of course
Oh fuck Boomers. There isn't anything to understand here. The Beatles, Pink Floyd, McJagger were not geniuses or visionaries. They were just the first generation of modern celebs worshiped by assholes. What do we need to understand about this guy? He was good at playing music and fucked up his brain on LSD. The end. And the music sucks.
There is no info in this vid about how the album was made
i know an interesting story about the artist behind a lot of the amazing animation and art behind some of the videos and album covers. My understanding is that he started as a janitor, and left some of his illustrations lying around and was then discovered. what an amazing artist.
Karma Police is better than Creep
HS has my all-time favorite Beatle moment: when after what seems like it’s going to be a fade out, Ringo comes back in and only then does the song begin to fade out.
The girl went to listen to him perform Creep while he was still in love with her. That shit's so depressingly romantic.
In/Casino/Out doesn't get enough credit honestly
If anyone thinks Noctourniquet is bad, listen to Molochwalker. The song slaps so hard.
That’s a banger. I really love the sound of Noctourniquet. Classic album.
Absolute genius.
At A# A#t
Chino would be so pissed if he saw this @11:12
This album was and is so significant to me and deep in my memory. It came out the summer after i turned 18 and I was homeless and drifting in and out of Covenant House (youth shelter). So much dozing off on the train to this album. Played it until the batteries would die in my walkman lol
12 golden country greats is great
So interesting he's Armenian. I don't know SOAD well but always thought they sounded a tad Persian with some of the flourishes and sounds.
i did not really like creep for a hot min i was a more of a no surprises guy till not that long ago
Fifth album, first was opiate, then undertow, aenima, lateralus, then 10,000 day's
jimirocks
What happend to the link to download the Free ATD PDF, "HOW at the drive-in CHANGED POST-HARDCORE," which included more facts and stories about the band & curated playist that you created? Tia
Hes literally me
As relevant today as it was six years ago.
Really have never understood the consensus that this record is somehow subpar or not as good as others. This is my favorite Tool record bar none. I feel it is the pinnacle of the band. They don't have a bad album, but 10,000 Days will always be my favorite.
Radiohead - "Big Ideas (Nude)" (Ok Sessions 1996-1997) ua-cam.com/video/lddl-zNjD0Y/v-deo.html
That was the episode sleepy time
perfect
First album for me: “All Mixed Up” followed by “Disintegration.” I started my Cure-listening journey in 1991. “Wish” was my first ‘upon release’ album bought. I went to my first and last Cure concert in 1995. I’ve owned every album up to, and including “Wild Mood Swings.” Bad album; never bought another album after that. “Three Imaginary Boys,” “Seventeen Seconds,” “Faith,” “Pornography,” and “Disintegration” were all perfect albums. Every song had value. “Wish” was their last good album (that I’ve heard). The Cure also has a retarded, cheesy, and uninspired side too. The era from “The Top” to “Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me” was riddled with horrible BS. One thing to note: The Cure is essentially a band of capable guitarists/instrumentalists, one of which tries hard to sing. Sometimes Robert Smith’s musical ideas are interesting enough to make up for his mediocre singing ability. But when he goes bubbly, goofy, giddy with drug-addled stupidity, it can get really bad. Similarly, his lyrics range from pretty nice to rubbish. However, the moody moments where he lets the band’s musical ability overshadow his sobby-growl crooning, it tends to meld into something worthwhile, mostly because there is something other than his vocal caricatures to ponder. And even on their worst albums, there are a few gems: “Just Like Heaven,” “Push,” “In Between Days,” etc. And, even during his worst moments, Robert Smith was willing to try new things, which resulted in lots of crap ideas, and a few extraordinary ones. If he had remained in Siouxsie and the Banshees as a guitarist, and not taken chances with his own band, the eighties would have felt like an emptier, less-emotionally charged, and slightly more soulless era. P.S. - What was all that crap about personal experience and infinity. I thought this was a video about The Cure. That is fifteen minutes of my life I can’t get back. How about when you say a video is about The Cure, then mean it, and really talk about them. There are so many fascinating facts about them you could have mentioned, but instead, you droned on into meaningless non sequitur. Quite painful. Never again.
Very good video my new friend. Your narration is wonderful.I like it your not talking 90 to nothing. Very clear and precise. You put a lot of work in this and I appreciate it. I was watching Pink Floyd this morning on UA-cam and after all these years finally Googled what the meaning behind the pig is. Your feed came up first with video attached. I tapped on it and it directed me to my channel. This is how I found you. After watching the video and getting educated,I then tapped on your channel and like what I see,so I will check out other video's on your channel. Btw I read you are in Norway in your profile description. I watch another channel named RailCowGirl she is a train driver/engineer on the Bergan and Flam rail lines there in Norway. She simply puts her go pro facing forward and shows us the spectacular scenery of your mostly cold but beautiful country and has 505K subscribers and rarely says a word. She just gets in her warm cab of her train and puts it in drive enjoys the scenery and doubles down on easy money. Now that's nice. In my next life I might live there. You btw sound too American too be from Norway. No Norwegian accent at all. Greetings from Atlanta 4.26.2024
I heard "the bends" as my first song from Radiohead. "The bends" was the first song i heard from them"
Sometimes, mother nature just picks the weirdest examples of people for strangely karma based moments in life.
This story has alot of parallels with Avicii's story. Both of them are heroes of mine!
John is the best
"Primus, one of those bands from the 80's" opening line they, one of the most 90's bands ever, only released one little ol' EP in the 80's
What to take away from this video; if you want to have good life GET OUT OF OHIO!
He went to High School in Michigan.
Wow calling a musical and artistic visionary "bats hit crazy" in the first 30 seconds.. Fool.
I think his depression came from his mother's abuse. She perhaps has a borderline personality disorder or narcissism. It sounds more like BPD, which can be something that can cause trauma and depression into the adult years of the victim of the abuse. Surviving and escaping BPD personalities necessarily creates a determination to get away and live a huge, fulfilling life. That determination and drive, in his case, funneled through music that went much, much further than other musicians, he overshot the goal. Eminem is a good example of someone who escaped a borderline mother and overshot the goal by a million miles. This is seen in his personal life tendencies. He dated and lived on and off with a certain musician who is also quite mentally ill (in the personality disorder sense, a woman who also destroyed another certain musician's will to live). People tend to be attracted to people who seem much like the immediate family member who is the most distant and disregarding of them. This is an attempt to try to fix the past but is often futile. Childhood trauma I think. Billy had a nervous breakdown making the album that swept him to fame. The fame, is this sense, is only a minor additive. Stress to please the public. But why did he need to convince the public further after the fame? He was writing for himself, and his music is so intrinsically meshed with the individual, now he had millions of eyes judging him when they judge the music.
Hes a dirty commie but i love his music.
How afraid is nesalpeirus1714 to debate. He sends me a reply but blocks me from replying. Typical socialist when they know they’ve failed in every aspect
I too share the beach trip connections
Really good explanations of microtones! I would like to say that the song "O.N.E." definitely does have microtonal notes in it - all of the songs on Flying Microtonal Banana, K.G. and L.W. have them because of the scales they're written in. I guess it just shows how seamlessly the band fits the notes into their songs, as it sounds so natural and you don't notice them!
2003?.....he's 37-ish....LOL not 59!!! that would make him almost 80 years old right now dude get it together😳🥴
Misfits is from New Jersey.
Manson wasn't right in the head and was a fantasist!
Thank you for this. You have expressed why I appreciate Maynard so much. My favorite band is Puscifer, but have been a fan since the first Tool album. Saw Tools first show in 1993 in Seattle.
Dave Bennett sent me 🤘🏻
We all just want to be seen and sometimes It's impossible to understand the context behind the good without the bad stuff So we say the bad stuff But if people really understood us when we were talking about the bad stuff We used to do or we used to be. And then that's what defines us. But that's just a small part of who we are. And maybe we grew paseither way. We don't want to be defined as a creep. They might have done back then, but they don't want to be anymor How are we meant to grow if we are not allowed to evolve?
